I've worked with Custom Packaging Lane a few times this year on packaging for our soaps. They always deliver great looking boxes within our tight deadlines. Frank is super communicative and a pleasure to work with.

Very happy with Custom Packaging Lane. Sam and Sarah were great to work with. The quality of the printing and speedy delivery was very much appreciated. I use them for 2 of our custom printed boxes and will be using them for more projects moving forward. Sam was wonderful and even caught a typo that I missed. Thank you.

A roll end tuck front mailer is a practical baseline for a one-piece corrugated box with enclosed sides and a hinged lid. FEFCO 0427 is the industry code for this die-cut construction, with rolled side panels and a top that locks into the front wall. Board performance still has to match packed weight, fragility, stacking, and the distribution route. For parcel mailers, 32 ECT is one industry board benchmark to evaluate against the actual load rather than a universal specification.
Compare custom full colour mailer boxes with custom folding shipping boxes before approving the closure. The custom mailer box range shows related structures.
A white outer liner usually renders bright process colors more cleanly than a kraft-colored surface. The liner is the flat paper facing bonded to the corrugated medium. Natural fiber variation can remain visible beneath light ink on kraft, while white provides a more neutral base. E flute suits compact mailers where a lower profile matters; B and C flutes provide deeper corrugation when cushioning or stacking takes priority.
Judge the printed face on an erected, packed sample. Flute direction, fold pressure, and heavy ink coverage can make broad solid fields look different across the lid, sidewalls, and front lock.
Flexographic printing suits repeated solids and simpler graphics, digital supports jobs with several artwork versions, and an offset-printed liner carries fine detail before lamination to corrugated board. The crossover follows quantity, version count, ink coverage, setup, and the selected liner. Compare the same artwork on the proposed board because the surface changes how color and small reversed type reproduce.
| Print route | Useful job profile | Color behavior to inspect | Approval checkpoint |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flexographic | Repeated solids and simple graphics | Board texture can show through coverage | Solid density and edge definition |
| Digital | Several artwork versions | Output follows the calibrated device and board face | Gradients and small reversed type |
| Offset-printed liner | Detailed graphics across broad panels | A smoother sheet carries the image | Fold registration and liner bond |
At the press check, inspect uneven fields, registration, cracking at folds, and the approved color after assembly. Matte lamination can reduce glare on dark mailers, while gloss makes reflections and surface variation more visible under direct light.
Unused internal space can make the carrier's billable weight higher than the packed scale weight. For US ground planning that uses a 139 divisor, multiply the closed box's exterior dimensions in inches and divide the cubic result by 139. Measure the closed mailer at its widest points, including a bowed panel or raised lid, then apply the carrier's current rules.
Flat blanks and erected packs need separate warehouse calculations. Record blanks per outer case, finished case dimensions, case weight, and pallet pattern. A board or closure change can alter both storage cube and inbound freight even when the artwork remains identical.
Panel orientation, image resolution, glue zones, and every score crossing should be resolved before release. Keep small type and critical marks off the dieline scores and locking tabs. Screen-built color needs conversion through the selected print profile, and saturated tones should be judged on the proof rather than a monitor. Extend backgrounds to the marked bleed allowance, then inspect barcodes, front-to-back continuity, and solid coverage.
Use the sample kit to compare board faces and finishes before final color choices are released.
