I use them for 2 of our custom printed boxes and will be using them for more projects moving forward. Sam was wonderful and even caught a typo that I missed. Thank you.

About 3 to 7.5 in wide is a common industry planning range for stand-up formats, but the filled product determines the final dimensions. Record width x height x bottom gusset using finished outside measurements, then separate that footprint from the printable panel.
Build a filled mockup, not only a flat paper template. Product density, trapped air, unused space above the fill, zipper position, and seal width all change the standing footprint. The front panel can shorten as the base opens, so keep critical copy above the expected curve. A pouch that fits the nominal product volume can still lean if the fill settles unevenly.
A round-bottom seal supports many lighter fills, while a K-seal directs load toward angled seals at the base and is commonly considered for heavier contents. A plow bottom uses a continuous folded base with corner seals and no separate seal across the gusset. These are trade structures, not interchangeable artwork templates.
| Bottom structure | Base behavior | Job check |
|---|---|---|
| Round bottom | Curved seal opens into a broad standing base | Light fill distribution and front-panel curve |
| K-seal | Angled seals transfer load toward the pouch sides | Heavier fill, corner stress, and artwork clearance |
| Plow bottom | Folded film forms the base with corner seals and no separate gusset seal | Flowing fill, base opening, and crease control |
The correct choice comes from a filled stability test, seal inspection, and distribution trial. For a paper-like surface direction, consider kraft standup pouches without assuming that appearance defines the internal barrier structure.
PET / AL / PE is a common foil-laminate sequence when print surface, barrier, and heat sealing need separate layers. PET is the outer polyester print carrier, AL is the aluminum barrier layer, and PE is the inner polyethylene sealant. The correct construction depends on moisture, oxygen, aroma, light, puncture risk, filling conditions, and the planned shelf period.
Do not choose a laminate from appearance alone. A kraft-look surface can still use a separate functional film structure, and a clear window changes the barrier discussion. If the contents will touch food, ask us about food-contact options. Spouted liquid formats also need the fitment weld and cap interface tested; a fitment is the rigid spout component, as illustrated by cold brew coffee pouches.
Reverse printing protects graphics by placing ink on the inner face of an outer clear film before lamination. Keep logos, instructions, and changing codes clear of the top seal, zipper, tear notch, side seals, and the curved gusset area. The dieline should match the selected structure rather than a generic pouch outline.
Digital output suits shorter launches with several flavors, while flexographic plates or gravure cylinders can become economical when a longer pouch run spreads the setup cost. That crossover shifts with the number of designs, ink coverage, colors, repeat length, and setup. A press check looks for color alignment, fine type, pinholes, scuffing, and clean edges at the seal zones. Low-resolution art stays rough, and RGB color can shift in conversion. Missing bleed can expose an unprinted sliver after cutting.
Finished pouches should be aligned in counted bundles, protected from bent zippers and tear notches, and loaded into cartons with a stated orientation. Record units per bundle, bundles per carton, outer carton dimensions, carton weight, and pallet pattern. The carton-packing trial should confirm that pressure does not curl the base or distort a spout.
Use the flexible pouch range to compare structures after the filled dimensions are known, then inspect the physical sample kit before the final digital proof is approved.
