PET/AL/PE is a common choice when stored grains, coffee, or dry ingredients need strong light, oxygen, and moisture barriers. The PET outer layer is polyester and provides the printable surface, aluminum foil supplies opacity and barrier performance, and polyethylene, or PE, forms the inner heat-seal surface. Metallized PET/PE uses a thin metal coating instead of a solid foil layer, so it offers a different balance of flexibility, opacity, and barrier performance.

The complete film construction matters more than the appearance of one layer. Oils, sharp food edges, residual heat from filling, and expected storage conditions can change the suitable specification. A zipper supports repeated opening, a sealed top provides an unopened closure, and a vacuum format removes excess headspace around a compatible product. The zipper track, tear notch, and top seal each require their own working area. Powder, coffee grounds, or grain dust left across the seal band can create an incomplete seal.

Fill a plain pouch with the actual product, settle it as it will be handled, and mark the fill line. Then check whether the zipper stays clean, the top can be sealed without product in the seal band, and the base stands without rocking. The front panel is the cleanest reading area when seals, zipper tracks, tear notches, and gusset folds remain outside critical artwork.
