Custom Packaging Lane (custompackaginglane.com) is a US-based packaging supplier that includes free design support with every order, on runs starting at a 100-unit minimum. The team builds a printable dieline for your structure, places your artwork on it, and returns a digital proof for approval before anything reaches press. Revisions are part of the service, and files can be supplied as vector art or layered layouts. Production typically takes 10 to 14 business days after proof approval, plus delivery. A $19.99 sample kit shows how print sits on real board. It suits first-time ecommerce brands, cosmetics lines, and agencies.

What is a dieline and why does every job start with one?

A dieline is the flat map of your box before it is folded: solid lines where the board gets cut, dashed lines where it creases, tabs where glue goes, and a marked safety margin inside every panel. It also shows something a flat layout hides, which is where each panel ends up once the box is assembled. The panel sitting at the top of the file may end up upside down on the finished lid. Design support is free on every order, so you get a dieline built for your structure rather than a generic template you have to force artwork into.

What files should I send?

Vector is the short answer. Logos and type set as vector art in AI, EPS, PDF, or SVG scale to any panel without breaking down. Send fonts outlined, or include the font files, because a layout that reflows on another machine will not match your proof. Photos and textures have to be raster, and what matters there is that the image is large enough at the size it will actually print rather than stretched up from a web asset. Build color in CMYK, and if a brand color has to hold, name the Pantone instead of approximating it in process.

How does the proofing loop work?

You send dimensions, quantity, and artwork or a rough sketch. Back comes a dieline with your art placed on it, usually as a flat proof plus a rendered mockup so you can see the assembled box. You mark up what is wrong. We revise. That loop repeats until you sign off, and revisions are part of free design support. Read the proof for the boring things: spelling, which version of the logo was used, whether the inside panel is meant to be blank, and whether anything important is sitting on a fold. After approval, production typically takes 10 to 14 business days, plus delivery.

What goes wrong with artwork most often?

The logo pulled off a website is the classic. It arrives small, in RGB, often with a white rectangle behind it that is invisible on a white web page and glaring on a brown box. Close behind: artwork that stops exactly at the trim line, which leaves a white sliver when cutting shifts even slightly. Then text placed across a crease, which distorts as the board folds. Hairline rules and small reversed type fill in on kraft board because the surface is absorbent. Flat black sitting next to rich black on a large panel reads as two different blacks. Barcodes get scaled non-uniformly or dropped onto a low-contrast surface where a scanner struggles.

How do those get fixed?

Most of it is prepress work: rebuilding a raster logo as vector, extending art into the bleed, nudging elements off score lines, converting or flagging color, and adding a white underlay when a design has to sit on kraft. If a logo cannot be rescued, it gets redrawn. What does not happen quietly is a change to your design intent, so anything that alters how the box looks comes back to you on a proof first.

What if I do not have a designer at all?

Send whatever you have: a phone photo of a box you like, a sketch on paper with measurements, or a link to your product page. That is enough to start. Order the $19.99 sample kit alongside it so you can judge finish and board in hand, and look at mailer box structures to see how much printable surface you are really working with. When you are ready, send the details with your quantity. The minimum order is 100 units.

Frequently Asked Questions

All I have is a JPEG of my logo. Is that a problem?

It is fixable. A JPEG is raster, usually low resolution, and often carries a white background that will print as a white block on a colored box. Free design support includes redrawing the mark as vector art so it prints cleanly at any size on any panel.

Do I pay extra for the dieline?

No. The dieline is part of free design support on every order. It is built for your structure and dimensions, with cut lines, creases, glue tabs, bleed, and safety margins marked, so you or your designer can place artwork knowing exactly what ends up where.

Will the printed color match what I see on my monitor?

Not exactly. Screens emit light and ink absorbs it, and every board surface shifts color, unbleached kraft most of all. Specify a Pantone for anything that has to stay consistent, and use the sample kit to see how ink behaves on real stock before approving a proof.

How many rounds of revisions do I get?

Revisions are part of free design support, and the proof loop continues until you are satisfied enough to approve. If a change alters the structure rather than the artwork, a new dieline may be needed and that can affect the quote, so flag structural questions early.

Can you design the box if I only have a sketch and dimensions?

Yes. A hand sketch with measurements, or a photo of a box you want matched, is a normal starting point. You get a dieline and a proof back to react to, which is much easier than trying to specify packaging from scratch in writing.
