I've worked with Custom Packaging Lane a few times this year on packaging for our soaps. They always deliver great looking boxes within our tight deadlines. Frank is super communicative and a pleasure to work with.

Very happy with Custom Packaging Lane. Sam and Sarah were great to work with. The quality of the printing and speedy delivery was very much appreciated. I use them for 2 of our custom printed boxes and will be using them for more projects moving forward. Sam was wonderful and even caught a typo that I missed. Thank you.

White liners retain cleaner light areas, while natural kraft shifts pale inks warmer and darker. Unprinted kraft also remains part of the design, so artwork approved against a white screen background is not a dependable color target. Flexographic printing works well for bold marks and limited color sets. Digital production can accommodate shorter versioned runs without plates, while an offset-printed liner supports detailed artwork before lamination to corrugated board.
Approve color on the proposed liner and flute, then inspect solid ink density, small reversed type, fold alignment, scuffing, and cracking at the press check. Large solid areas need a fold trial because dense ink can crack at scores, and small reversed type can fill in on an uneven liner. Compare the same file on colored mailer boxes before choosing a surface route.
An attached lid, rolled sidewalls, and a locking front distinguish the common mailer from a regular slotted carton with taped top flaps. FEFCO 0427 is the public code for the one-piece roll end tuck front format. Dust flaps support the edges, but an unrestrained product can still strike the walls. The closure choice should follow packing speed, product access, parcel exposure, and whether the recipient will reopen the pack.
E-flute creates a compact wall and smoother print face, B-flute adds cushioning and puncture resistance, and C-flute produces a deeper profile for larger packs. When 32 ECT board is selected, the completed mailer still needs a packed trial for its actual route. Weight, moisture, unsupported span, stacking, and handling remain part of the choice.
| Board option | Common planning role | Tradeoff to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| E-flute | Compact e-commerce and presentation mailers | Less cushioning than B or C |
| B-flute | Products needing more puncture resistance | More board bulk than E |
| C-flute | Larger single-wall transit packs | Greater outer cube and a rougher print face |
| 32 ECT board | Specified parcel jobs | Completed pack needs route testing |
A cavity needs assembly clearance plus contact points that stop side-to-side and vertical movement. A cutout copied exactly from the product outline can bind after corrugated scores fold, while excess clearance allows impact against the walls. Tabs should avoid buttons, pumps, glass corners, and product labels. Compare mailer boxes with inserts after loading every accessory, instruction card, and protective wrap planned for shipment.
Close and reopen an erected sample to check front-lock engagement, dust-flap contact, lid spring-back, panel bowing, and removal force. Count flat blanks per master carton only after the insert and mailer can be packed together without distorting either part.
Dimensional weight is a carrier calculation that converts exterior parcel volume into a billable comparison weight. A common US ground planning method multiplies the carrier-rounded outside measurements and then applies a 139 cubic-inch-per-pound divisor. Current carrier rules decide rounding and the comparison with scale weight. Empty depth can therefore alter freight economics even when the board price falls, so calculate the erected outer cube rather than the flat blank.
Browse the custom mailer box collection and inspect liner, flute, and print references through the sample kit before fixing the physical specification.
