Common US hot-drink planning capacities include 4, 8, 10, 12, 16, and 20 oz, although the selected cup system controls the actual rim and lid match. Capacity alone is not a lid specification. The packer should confirm the intended fill, foam or headspace, cup rim diameter, and lid series before artwork is released.

A tapered sidewall turns a rectangular mark into a curved wrap, so a straight logo file is not a press-ready layout. Use the cup-wall dieline to position artwork around the conical body. Essential copy should stay clear of the side seam, top curl, and bottom roll. The top curl is the formed rim that receives the lid, and the bottom roll is the folded edge that joins the wall to the base.
Inspect the design on an assembled mockup as well as the flat proof. A circular logo can look oval when the taper is ignored, and a repeat pattern can break where the side seam overlaps. Small type should be evaluated at final size. If a barcode is used, follow the applicable GS1 standard for contrast and quiet zones, then verify it on the formed cup.
Artwork version count often matters more than color count when choosing among digital, flexographic, and offset production. Flexographic printing uses flexible relief plates to transfer ink, while offset printing transfers an image from a plate to a blanket and then to the printable stock. Digital printing removes physical plates from the setup. Registration means alignment between printed colors and the final seam position. The economical crossover depends on cup size, quantity per design, ink coverage, color control, and the converter's press layout.

Rim diameter, not ounce capacity alone, determines whether a lid seats on the cup. Two cups carrying the same nominal capacity can belong to different rim families. A rim family is a set of cups designed around the same lid diameter. Test the assembled combination with the intended beverage temperature and handling routine, and ask us about food-contact options for the proposed cup, lining, ink, and lid construction.
