A tabbed paperboard insert keeps the main card centered while giving smaller response and detail cards their own positions. An insert is a fitted interior component that locates the contents inside the outer box. Its rails, notches, and folds should touch firm paper edges without pressing a wax seal, ribbon knot, or printed corner. For folded platforms, choose a C1S grade within the 12 to 24 pt range. Brown kraft between 18 and 24 pt creates a darker base for natural-color invitation themes.
Prototype the insert with every finished paper piece present. Repeat the loading motion at the planned assembly pace, then check whether envelopes bow, a ribbon loosens, or a small card slips below the platform. The digital proof should show every printed panel and cut, but the physical mockup establishes whether the contents stay seated. Use the sample kit to compare stock and surface choices before the insert material is fixed.
A drawer and sleeve creates a staged pull-out opening, while a folding sleeve keeps a flat card set compact before assembly. A magnetic flap gives the lid a hinged motion, and a window lid can expose the monogram card before the package opens. PET window patches commonly use 0.2 to 0.3 mm clear film, so glare, patch edges, and the visible card position need a physical check.

Compare the opening motion with a wedding card box before artwork is placed. A foil mark crossing a drawer edge can split visually, while type near a sleeve score can fold into the crease.
The invitation should lead the reveal, followed by response and detail cards in the order the recipient will use them. Keep the address envelope outside tight decorative restraints that can crease its corners. A belly band can hold a flat stack, while a ribbon channel in the insert prevents the knot from lifting one side of the lid.
Draw the dieline from the completed stack and its loading path, not from the invitation face alone. A dieline maps the flat panels, scores, cuts, and glue areas used to produce the box. A bright RGB palette may lose saturation when prepared for print, low-resolution monograms can show rough edges at final size, and missing bleed can expose an unprinted edge after cutting. At the press check, inspect dark solids at scores, foil registration around names, and scuffing on matte or soft-touch surfaces. Record those choices in the custom packaging design file used for the job.
Each destination batch needs a finished-unit count, exterior case measurements, gross case weight, protective separators, and a matching address file. List units per master carton and cartons per pallet only after a full suite, insert, ribbon, and closure have been packed together. Keep printed faces oriented consistently and add interleaving where foil or laminated panels could rub.
For one-location delivery, reconcile the case count before sealing. For multi-address distribution, match every packed unit to the destination list without placing personal address data in the print artwork. Recheck the assembly order against the boxed wedding card format, then label each outer case by stationery version so names, dates, and venue details remain separated through fulfillment.
