Which box style works best for custom candy packaging?

Straight tuck end cartons suit light retail assortments, while an auto-lock bottom gives multi-piece packs a preglued base that opens into a firm loading surface. A reverse tuck end places the top and bottom closures on opposite faces, which can reduce material use on some layouts. Pillow cartons use curved side scores and tucked ends for small favors. The comparison below describes common trade practice, not a fixed specification for every candy.

StructureClosureShipping formCommon use
Straight tuck endBoth ends tuck toward the same faceFlatBars and small assortments
Reverse tuck endEnds tuck toward opposite facesFlatNarrow retail cartons
Auto-lock bottomPreglued base locks when openedFlatMulti-piece sets
PillowCurved panels close with end flapsFlatFavors and compact pieces

For format references, compare candy bar boxes with candy display boxes. The first controls a slim product closely; the second must hold its opening angle and keep the front panel readable after repeated access.

How do personalized candy boxes get sized for the product?

The arranged product footprint sets the carton width and length, while stack height plus working clearance sets the required depth. Build the dieline around the complete assortment so panels, flaps, glue tabs, and folds follow the loaded pack rather than one loose candy.

Measure wrapped pieces in their final arrangement, including trays, dividers, cards, or pads. An insert with excess open space lets pieces move; one with no loading clearance can crush wrappers or slow packing. Fold a plain prototype, load the real assortment, close it, and reopen it before approving artwork. Master-carton quantity comes after the packed carton is measured because the folded footprint and nesting pattern determine outer-carton and pallet counts.

When should candy packaging use a clear window?

Window patching commonly uses 0.2 to 0.3 mm clear PET, short for polyethylene terephthalate, when shoppers need to see the assortment without opening the carton. The patch should clear scores, glue tabs, and the tuck path so flexing does not pull it loose. An open cutout has no film, so it does not provide the same barrier between the product area and the retail environment.

Place the opening over the most consistent part of the assortment, then test glare, product movement, and label visibility with a filled sample. Candy boxes with a window show the format. If candy may touch an interior surface, ask us about food-contact options.

What artwork files prevent problems on a custom candy box?

Vector logos, 300 dpi raster images at final size, and correctly converted press colors prevent common artwork failures. Common prepress practice adds 3 mm (0.125 in) outside the cut path for candy patterns and full-panel colors, preventing a white sliver after trimming. Keep small type and barcodes away from scores, glue areas, and panel edges. RGB artwork can shift when converted for press, so inspect brand colors on the digital proof.

Digital printing generally suits short or versioned runs, while offset can make sense when one design runs long enough to spread plate setup across more pieces. Ink coverage, foil areas, spot UV, and embossing need separate layers on the artwork file. Browse the food packaging range for other candy and treat box styles. The sample kit page is available when a physical reference is needed.
