The top fold, patch size, hole position, and base construction should be evaluated together instead of treating the handle as a separate part.

Build a plain mockup and carry the intended contents through the actual handoff. Check whether the base sits flat, the handles meet above the load, and the top can remain open or close as planned. Folded size affects master-carton nesting and pallet counts, so case packing should be confirmed after the converted shape is approved.
Offset carries fine detail, flexo handles repeated graphics efficiently, and digital print suits short runs or artwork changes. Brown paper changes the appearance of light and transparent inks, so the stock color must be treated as part of the artwork. Heavy solids can also show stress where a gusset folds or a bottom turns under the bag.
At the press check, inspect ink density, registration, reversed type, and solid coverage. Compare methods with the same paper and artwork before deciding where the practical crossover sits. Low-resolution logos, late color conversion, thin reversed lines, and type crossing a gusset are common causes of disappointing printed bags.
Uncoated brown kraft shows fiber variation and absorbs ink differently from a coated white sheet, so a printed sample on the chosen paper is more useful than a screen preview. If the bag needs a bottom stiffener for presentation, 18 to 24 pt kraft board is a common starting range. The stiffener is a separate flat card placed above the folded base, and it should sit clear of the side folds without interfering with opening.
Dark ink coverage can make fold whitening more visible along gussets, while matte lamination changes surface feel and can add stiffness. Gloss lamination produces stronger reflection but can make scuffs easier to see. Test the chosen paper, ink coverage, finish, handle, and loaded product together. A finish approved on a flat swatch can behave differently after the side gussets and bottom folds are worked open.
Start with the written job specification rather than the business label: paper, handle attachment, size, print coverage, tooling, case pack, and delivery terms must match. A converted blank should be folded, loaded, carried, and packed into its master carton before the full run. The production drawing maps the front, back, gussets, bottom turn, top fold, handle centers, glue zones, and trim. Approval should check assembled orientation, not only artwork shown flat.
