I've worked with Custom Packaging Lane a few times this year on packaging for our soaps. They always deliver great looking boxes within our tight deadlines. Frank is super communicative and a pleasure to work with.

Very happy with Custom Packaging Lane. Sam and Sarah were great to work with. The quality of the printing and speedy delivery was very much appreciated. I use them for 2 of our custom printed boxes and will be using them for more projects moving forward. Sam was wonderful and even caught a typo that I missed. Thank you.

A full-size paper mockup packed with the heaviest normal menu combination is the fastest way to set width, gusset, and height. Measure closed food containers as a group, including lids, napkins, utensils, and drink carriers, then check that the top can close without pressing on a lid. Record bag dimensions as width x gusset x height so reorders use the same convention.
Non-woven polypropylene at 80 to 120 grams per square meter suits reusable carry duty, while 8 to 12 oz cotton canvas gives a thicker stitched option. Paper sacks depend on base construction, paper weight, handle attachment, and the footprint of the packed containers. A wider base can hold a meal level, but it also moves the load farther from the side seams. Test the filled bag by lifting, walking, setting it down, and lifting it again.
| Bag format | Common construction | Packout check | Typical print route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat-bottom paper sack | Side gussets, pasted base, flat paper handles | Container footprint and lid clearance | Flexographic print |
| Non-woven carry bag | 80 to 120 grams per square meter polypropylene, stitched gusset, loop handles | Total order weight and seam loading | Screen print |
| Cotton canvas carrier | 8 to 12 oz canvas, boxed base, web handles | Base shape and handle drop | Screen print or heat transfer |
Flexographic printing is efficient for repeated paper-bag artwork, while screen printing suits broad marks on non-woven or canvas carriers. Put the revision code outside the consumer-facing design and keep a production reference for ink color, line weight, and print position. Fine reversed type can fill in on an absorbent sheet, and large solid areas can expose uneven ink laydown. Offset printing can be used on sheets before bag converting when the artwork and run justify plate setup, but the fold and seam map must be imposed before printing. Approve the mark on the specified bag material because the same color target reads differently on brown paper, white paper, and fabric.
Keep the main mark clear of handle patches, side folds, and the base turn so it remains readable when the bag is loaded. The handle drop is the distance from the top edge to the inside of the grip. Confirm enough drop for a hand to enter without forcing the bag open, then load the heaviest planned order and watch whether the front panel buckles across the artwork. A centered flat mockup can look off-center after the side gussets open.
Three loaded trials expose different failures: the hottest closed container, the coldest closed container, and the heaviest normal combination. Check base sag, seam strain, handle comfort, closure clearance, condensation transfer, and whether containers remain level during a short walk. The carry bag is secondary packaging, so the primary container still controls product contact. Ask us about food-contact options if the planned construction could touch unpackaged food.
Use carry out bags to compare another handled format, or compare custom takeout mailer boxes when the order needs a rigid outer structure. The food packaging catalog covers the wider system. Check the sample kit before choosing a surface and print route.
