I've worked with Custom Packaging Lane a few times this year on packaging for our soaps. They always deliver great looking boxes within our tight deadlines. Frank is super communicative and a pleasure to work with.

Very happy with Custom Packaging Lane. Sam and Sarah were great to work with. The quality of the printing and speedy delivery was very much appreciated. I use them for 2 of our custom printed boxes and will be using them for more projects moving forward. Sam was wonderful and even caught a typo that I missed. Thank you.

Twisted-paper handles suit a familiar boutique presentation, while flat-paper handles fold down with less bulk at a checkout station. A die-cut handle removes the separate handle component but uses part of the bag panel as the grip. A self-opening sack, commonly called an SOS bag, has a rectangular base that opens quickly for counter packing. Compare the intended load and opening sequence before selecting among retail paper bags and carry-out bags.
Natural kraft stock mutes light inks more than white paper, while coated paper holds finer image detail than an absorbent uncoated sheet. These are not equivalent specifications. A heavy fill still needs a filled-load trial because the paper grade, handle patch, adhesive, and base fold work together. Evaluate ink on the selected stock rather than on a white-screen mockup.
Flexography handles repeating logos and broad color areas efficiently on many paper-bag runs. Flexography transfers ink from raised flexible plates to the stock. Offset-laminated sheets can hold finer tonal images, while digital output can make sense for a short run with several artwork versions. The economic crossover depends on quantity, number of designs, ink coverage, and plate or setup work, so it belongs in the job quote rather than in a universal quantity rule.
During the paper-bag press run, inspect solid-color density, alignment where colors meet, small light type over a dark area, and cracking beside folds. Low-resolution logos print with rough edges. Screen colors can shift when converted for press. Keep type clear of handle patches and gusset folds, and extend printed backgrounds past the cut line so trimming does not leave an unintended paper edge.
Width x side gusset x height is the usual dimension order for a shopping bag. Measure the merchandise as a group, allow space for loading and removal, and record whether handles are included in the height. A bag sized only from the largest single item can pinch at the opening or leave smaller products sliding across the base.
| Specification | Common options | Job check |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | Inside width x side gusset x height | Product stack and loading clearance |
| Paper | Uncoated bag paper or coated bag paper | Filled load and print coverage |
| Handle | Twisted paper, flat paper, or die-cut | Grip, opening, and fold-down space |
| Artwork zones | Front, back, and both gussets | Folds, handle patches, and trim |
| Shipping pack | Flat bundles in shipping cartons | Units per carton and pallet count |
Flat-packed bundles save space, but the packing plan still needs the bundle count, carton dimensions, carton weight, and pallet count. A loose shipping carton can let handles bend or bag corners curl. A carton packed too tightly can crush folded bases and slow checkout loading. Twisted handles should sit in a consistent direction inside each bundle so they do not press into adjacent bag faces.
Browse the full paper bag range, then compare brown paper bags with the physical sample kit. Approve the dieline only after the product fit, handle location, artwork panels, carton pack, and pallet assumptions are recorded.
