A presentation carton can travel without an overbox only when its structure, closure, and filled-package test match the parcel route. An overbox is a separate shipping case placed around the branded gift box. Folding paperboard intended for shelf display can scuff, open, or crush when carrier labels and conveyor handling are applied directly to it. A corrugated mailer may serve as both the presentation pack and shipper, but that choice needs a trial with the complete gift set.
Load the actual product, insert, tissue, cards, and closure during evaluation. Empty-box checks miss pressure from contents and movement through unused space. If artwork must arrive without a shipping label on it, reserve the overbox and its label panel before the branded box dimensions are approved.
A 32 ECT corrugated board is a common shipping reference, but packed weight, span, stacking, humidity, and handling route still determine the build. E-flute favors compact folds and a finer print surface, B-flute adds more cushioning depth, and C-flute is commonly used for outer cases with broader scores.

For US ground planning, carriers commonly apply a 139 divisor to the product of the parcel's maximum outside length, width, and height. Dimensional weight is a billing measure based on parcel volume. Measure the closed pack at its largest points, including any bulge. A decorative lid, bow, or projecting closure can increase the billed footprint even when product weight does not change.
