Start with the product, not the artwork. List the bottle, tube, pouch, or pre-roll pack dimensions, then note how the item will sit on the shelf. A low front cutout shows more of the package; a taller front panel leaves more room for copy. The dieline follows those dimensions.
A typical printed folding carton starts with 16 to 24 pt SBS cardstock, while E-flute or B-flute corrugated board adds thickness for a larger or heavier display. SBS cardstock is smooth paperboard used for folding cartons. E-flute is a fine corrugated flute, and B-flute is a thicker corrugated flute.
